Just a Note

I woke up from a dream
Very confused
I'm still not used to this bed

I ran outside in my pajamas
I didn't realize it was raining
Until it was too late

I rain across the wet cement
in bare feet
and got us breakfast

I woke you up from a dream
and you were very confused

I walked you to the bus
I carried your bag to the train
and when I got back
I opened up my book to read

but the picture on the wall
of me and you, posing
in front of the lake, wearing our silly hats
where we stripped and went swimming
and skipped rocks
and you found that salamander
and we named it Isaac
caught my eye

Because next to it was a note
you had pinned there
