absolutely correct: unless you can keep the bullet sonic (in fact well above the speed of sound) then a host of varibles come into play effecting the bullets stabillity to a greater or lesser degree depending on shape etc.

Heavy rimfire or airgun projectiles at around 950fps will achieve the best balance of accuracy/trajectory and terminal energy.

An immense amount has been written in the form of technical papers on this since literally the early 1900's.

For those that are interested there are a plethora of shadowgraph photos on the internet showing the efects of speeed/drag etc on a wide variety of projectile designs. It is a complex but fascinating subject!
