A warning: Don't read the comments below the article - mostly a bunch of idiots.
I did find the story inspiring and I'm thrilled for the couple. But, I have to admit that I found it irritating that they would spend 9 hours looking for one sperm, yet most docs find it a bother to try and get just one egg from a woman. Don't get me wrong - I am glad they could help this couple. I just see such a double standard in IF treatments.
They other thing that irritated me was that the article said:
"Because any pregnancy with so few sperm would require in-vitro fertilization, Jen.nifer Sch.iraldi had to harvest her eggs. But when they went to retrieve them, doctors found she made far fewer eggs than normal.
I got 12 but only eight were good, she recalled."
Far fewer than normal? Only 8 were good? I was expecting to read that she only got 2 or 3. Gee, what I wouldn't give for just one.
Sorry for the vent. Despite the fact that I found their success wonderful, you know how things can rub you sometimes.
