Response to Long story short....well..maybe long...LOL(DE mtd)
I agree with everything you say - the two times I met with him, he was giving me basic info like how IVF works, what is FS.H, and I was like "uhmm, I've known this for a long time now, I am beyond this". The only reason I stayed with him is that I found out that Dr. T, is a good friend of his, and I have high respect for Dr. T so I figured maybe it was just my own bias. They may be successful with older patients, but I still have doubt as to what their real stats are. I know only one person in their mid 40's that have been successful, and the rest are younger (in their 30's). I am considering them again because of the Al.exi.s Stewart story, but I plan to be more firm in my protocol this time.
They kept doing natural on me, and I lost almost an entire year due to premature ovulation, and early retrievals. Whenever I have done normal medicated low stim protocols (in my earlier centers, coop.er) I always get 100% fertilization with good embryo quality (and co.oper lab isn't even that good either). With his lab, my embryos were always cr.ap and that doesn't make sense if it was natural (so does that mean my eggs are better quality when taking meds, but crap without?) I don't believe that, in my gut, I think it is their lab. That is why I was questioning their stats, etc. It is true their prices are cheaper but if I had started out with Dr. T earlier, I could have probably banked many more embryos than what I have with N.H. Plus, I think they would have been better quality. At the time I consulted with Dr. T, he really wasn't low stim oriented, and was pro med/high stim. I didn't want to do that, so that is why I went to N.H. Also, it was easier since I could monitor locally and didn't have to go to NY.C all the time (that is a big hassle with my work). So, anyway, I lost a lot of time with N.H. but I think I will stick with them for a few months. In between I may try to do one with Dr. T, but need to see.
