First time posting, but I have been around a little while. Thought I would share my story.
I am a kiwi, living in earthquake ravaged Christchurch. Married the man of my dreams at 38, but had already learned that I had fertility issues at 36 when I came off the pill and we were TTC. Erratic cycles and blood work showed FSH of 23. IVF out of the question, tried clomid for 6 months with no joy. Gave up trying and lo and behold became pg naturally at 39. Baby boy delivered at 30 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. Difficult time ahead as not only was a preemie, he was also diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. He is 16 months corrected now and doing OK. But as soon as he was born I wanted to get pg again. No cycle for 6 months while I was expressing, then 3 about 30 days apart, then nothing for 96 days!!
Needless to say I was devastated as I thought I was in menopause. Bloods taken FSH 50.3; LH 40; Estrogen 230.
So I started reading this forum to work out what I could do naturally. I started taking a plethora of supplements:
My next cycle was 50 days, next cycle 30 days, next cycle - BFP at 5 weeks!!
I put it down to having been on supplements for 3 months as it takes 3 months to grow new eggs.
I am currently aged 40 due in April when I will be 41. So there you go ladies, its not over until its over. Still early days for me I know. I am still in miscarriage territory, but all it takes is the ability to ovulate 1 good egg ( oh and a few good sperm)!.
I will keep you posted as to progess.
