Response to Jamie, who told you to take DHEA? |
| Good questions. Nobody told me to take DHEA; I took it after my third attempt at IVF (first to transfer). Dr. Check's lab had told me that my eggs looked "dark and grainy" (gee, that made me feel great!) and that they were likely lousy. After I heard that I decided to take DHEA. I went and got my level run and it was slightly slow. I also ended up having a chemical pg from that cycle.
I did okay at 37.5 then at 50 all hell broke loose: I had hot flashes, my period went away, my follicular count went from 7 to 2, and I couldn't respond to stims. I attempted IVF again with Check during that time and my E2 only got to 30 after days of stims. I had to cancel. This all happened in the course of about a month.
I ended up going to a very good Fertile Soul practitioner who did acu and intense herbs with me to help me get back in balance. I got a lot better and in about three weeks it was out of my system. Two months later I did IVF again at age 39 (at Houston Fertility Institute) and got pregnant with my daughter. I also have a frozen blast from that cycle that we know is chromosomally normal. This huge egg improvement I attribute to CoQ10 and Ubiquinol, and I've posted a lot on here about my combo.
I think that it's okay to start at 25 and try it but move up slowly and really watch to see that nothing bad happens. For some DHEA is a silver bullet; for others it brings about a lot of misery. |
