After I first found these boards years ago and started planning to go to Cooper, my DH found the info about the lawsuit online. I subsequently "chatted" with board members who were more familiar with it.
It did concern me, but after finding out as much as I could about the case, I decided not to let it deter me from going to see Dr. Check. There were some really odd things about the case. The patient was herself a doctor (an OB/GYN) and was married to a doctor. I always felt the circumstances were just strange and there were lots of unanswered questions. Unfortunately, there are things we'll never know, such as what she possibly did herself to cause problems, what her husband did while trying to treat her under extreme duress, etc. Was it just a case of unfortunate events that culminated in bad hospital care in the end that killed her? Who knows.
Keep in mind that you are reading the version presented by the opposing malpractice attorney. I doubt I can find my links to everything I found years ago, but maybe try and search a little for other versions. It still may not give you any more information, but you can possibly see a different spin on events.
