And what I've learned is just because someone is a "specialist", it doesn't mean he or she knows it all. I can't tell you how many stories I've heard from women who went to my local fertility clinic that are unbelievable. The mistakes they've made just blows my mind. So, while it is good to put some faith in doctors, frankly I've found that in the fertility business in particular, you have to do your own research and learn from the real experts (the knowledgeable fertility patients).
When was your last FSH level taken? Was it on CD3? If not, I actually wonder if it could have been your body trying to surge. Yes, it could be that your ovaries are being unresponsive and it was your body trying to stimulate follicles, but it could have been a surge also. From what I'm understanding, you haven't had AF since December, so there is no way to know exactly what that level means unless you test E2 (estradiol), LH, and P4 (progesterone) to see what is going on with them all.
Personally, I believe you may have the potential to re-set your cycles if you get a skilled doctor willing to work with you. There isn't a guarantee, but it may be possible.
