Hey there.  Just wondering how the retrieval went the other day and how you and the donor are doing?   I hope all went well and that there were no issues.  I have been thinking of you and would love to hear how it went.  Please update when you get a chance.

The retrieval was this morning....It was a crazy day...I also had an interview as well; I feel so emotionally drained.....

My friend is such a trooper....She had a lot of pain as they do not put them 'under' for retrievals at our clinic....She was bawling and said she felt every single 'poke'....I felt sick when I saw her afterwards...Even DH started to cry when he saw how much pain she was in.....

On Wednesday they counted 31 follicles but they only retrieved 15....I feel horrible guilt saying this.... but all of us were a little disappointed since we were told there is likely a few immatures in there....Not really sure what happened with the other 15 or so....no one really answered us when we asked the question.....But I tried to reassure my friend that it is 12 more than I got..... and the quality is what we are really interested in happy.gif I am so scared about that call from the lab tomorrow.....I just pray we get some good embies....The clinic is extremely picky about what they will freeze....argghhh its gonna be a lonnnnnnngggg night....

Thanks again for shouting out to me (I hope you are doing well and enjoying your pregnancy happy.gif)....I wish I had the energy to respond to all of the replies below....If everyone else is reading this...I am truly thankful for your support, positive vibes, and prayers....thank you so very much!

Love,

Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

So glad it is over and done with and that you got 15.  With the prospect of 30 follicles I can see how you might have been disappointed and wondering where the other 1/2 went.  But, you have it right when you think about how many eggs you would have gotten etc.  15 is actually an excellent haul even for DE and I do hope that most turn out to be mature and of excellent quality so you can relax a little bit.  And just think how "young" these eggs are.  happy.gif

I am amazed and impressed that you were actually able to go through an interview on the same day.  Sounds like an emotionally exhausting day all the way around.  Fingers crossed for an excellent fert report (and a job offer!).

I wish you all the best with the fertlisation. 15 is a great number so you really shouldn't worry about the others. I know it was expectation that was set with the number of follicles but my oh my, 15, phew! I'm so sorry for your friend having to go through the pain, and sorry too that you had to watch someone so caring and special to you go through it this way. It is so hard all around. I hope the hard work pays off because ALL of you deserve it! Good Luck Elizabeth.

that they don't use the anesthesia. it is possible that they didn't want to poke her more and some eggs were just left there. I hope she feels better soon. And I really hope that you will get good quality embies. GL and baby dust to you.

to your friend and fertilisation vibes to you! that's a great number and I bet that if they're so picky over freezing, they'll be pretty picky over the ones they try to fertilise as well, so don't worry about those other 15. I'm doing so much crossing of fingers etc for people at the moment I can't stand up LOL! Mx

So glad I'm checking in to hear your update. I understand your disappointment, but hey, you want 1 (or 2), not a litter happy.gif. Sorry your friend (and you and DH, vicariously) had to go through that. That sounds horribly barbaric. But, it's over with now. Praying for an excellent fert report. Your friend is young and has healthy kids, so no reason not to think you'll get several good embies. Can't wait for the report!
