| I have been an infrequent poster lately as our TTC journey has taken a few weird twist and turns this whole year and I have found it a bit too overwhelming/depressing quite frankly to dwell on/share all of the details!
In August, I detected -through a HSG that I had done at my own insistence - that an adhesion I had had removed a few years ago had grown back. I had a hysteroscopy at Cornell a few weeks later and repeated the HSG this week - good news, the adhesion is gone! One small victory, I guess, but tough to lose a cycle while getting the surgery done...
My surgery was on CD8 of my last cycle - I took 2 mg of Estrace a day for 2 weeks after that and then stopped (per Cornell's orders). Got AF on CD 22.
I am DYING to cycle this month as we were "benched" the month of my hysteroscopy, and a few cycles before that for other reasons.
Went in on CD5 this cycle and E2 was 68 - FSH 27! 2 small antrals under 10. I can feel my body is completely out of whack - FSH obviously super high but I am reluctant to go on estinyl, which Cooper told me to do.
I have been taking phytoestrogens and also maybe 1/8 of a tablet of Estrace every other day in the hopes that maybe my body just needs estrogen and can't deal with the sudden stoppage of Estrace at the end of my last cycle.
Am I doing the right thing? Should I just wait it out and hope that my FSH just comes down slowly on its own, as it tends to do? I'm at a bit of a loss and wondering if I should just take the estinyl after all.
Sorry for the long post and the sort of complicated boat I'm in. I'm really feeling low about all this, although I was told to expect a wacky cycle after my surgery. SMRC

I have read that FSH can skyrocket after a lap. I had a friend that this happened to. She had to do acupuncture and such to get her body back on track and a few months later she conceived her take home baby. I'm not sure if a lap was involved here but I just thought that perhaps the same principle applied since there was a removal of the adhesion. |

Well, you've sort of done what I did with the acu herbs this cycle, and you might not be all that out of wack. I've really been thinking a lot about this FSH thing. It really only applies to IVF stims and getting tons of eggs, which you and I both know we don't get anyway. If you know, I got a 27 recently, and it's pretty upsetting, but it doesn't mean you don't get follicles. It just means we aren't going to respond great to stims, which we already sort of know. So, I think the key is to not worry so much about the FSH other then staying healthy and doing supplements, acu, herbs, whatever, to keep our cycles as healthy and coming as long as possible. So I don't think you did anything wrong. IMHO. I hope this make sense. I guess the bottom line is - nothing has changed for you really.
What is your plan for this cycle? If you are doing stims, then I would stop they pyto's and take the estinyl. If you aren't, then IMHO, keep taking what you want until you are going to take stims. I hope this helps. |

I would wait to take estinyl. Cooper tends to prescribe this anytime your FSH is high. I always waited a week and repeated bloodwork. In that time, my FSH usually had come down and a follicle had started growing. Since it sounds like you know that your FSH does come down slowly, I would wait for that. Usually after a surgery, your body needs some time to get back to normal. Would you cyle then at Cooper this month, or are you planning on going back to Cornell? |

but I did have a few cycles where my LH was high at the beginning of the cycle. I knew that from OPK's. So I bet my FSH was up in the 20's. On those cycles I would just stop meds and let my body be. Like Alima, one follicle would always start coming up within a week. It seems nature just brings a different situation each month. Some months I have super fast early cycles, some slow long cycles. Sometimes 8 antrals, sometimes 2! That is why I've started taking the check out CD 2 approach and sit out the ones that seem a bit out of whack in terms of being optimal for stimming. I say go au natural for a week and then see where your body is at. ((hugs)) I know how frustrating it is!

they were super helpful and gave me some reassurance that maybe just giving my body an extra week or so to (hopefully) get back into synch is OK. I don't plan to do meds this month, just some monitoring by Cooper. Was panicking a bit that I wouldn't ovulate at all, which has never happened to me. Now wondering if the 2 pills of estrace I was taking after my surgery suppressed me going into this cycle (so is taking phytoestrogens just making that worse?), although I'm sure the surgery itself was enough to throw everything out of whack. I had a super low key weekend, slept loads, did a yoga class and took estroven and some other supplements. I feel from my moods, etc that things are slowly coming back into line. So will go in on Tues for BW and US and see what is going on. Keep your fingers crossed for me and thanks again for weighing in. SMRC |
