Hi.. I think I belong here will be 40 the end of next month..We have been trying for our rainbow baby since March of 2011.(I have never had a difficulty getting pregnant).(After speaking with our ob and perinatologist we waited about a year after we lost our son).. Fast forward to September of 2011 after trying for 6 months on our own he called in a script of clomid for cycle day 5-9 for three months(No monoitoring or blood work done while on clomid)..I tried testing with ovulation predictor kits but almost felt like on clomid i didnt ovulate. After clomid got postives on ovulation predictor kits.

Then in January we met with the re..he did bw on cycle day 3 (1-25-2012)
estrogen 595 (huge cyst on right ovary)
LH 6.24
Fsh 4.44
Prolactin 4.65
Then we were supposed to do Cd21 blood work but my cycle was only 18 days (shortest cycle i had in a year) So on February 15th we did blood work again making this like CD5
now the results of this are
LH 13.2
FSH 41.9 ?????? It jumped that high in less than 3 weeks..According to Labcor levels ranging from 25.8-134 is POSTMENOPAUSAL i still get a period every month
Prolactin 6.5
estrogen 18.6

Now i am soo confused is this possible? what do i do next? Meeting with the RE on Monday but need to know what to expect..

Hoping to get to know all of you ladies and drowning us all in baby dust..

Your initial FSH reading is a false reading because of the cyst. The elevated estrogen falsely lowers the FSH. The second reading may be off as well because of the cyst, but I'm not sure - maybe a rebound affect? Either way.. it's not a great scenario, but pretty much where most of us here are... Acupuncture, supplements, and various ways to lower FSH exist and may be helpful, but once you get that really high reading, it's likely you will not respond well to meds for IVF or IUI, but that certainly doesn't mean you can't ever get pregnant. It's just likely to be more difficult. Welcome, and keep us posted as to what the RE says. Babydust to you as well. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Hello and welcome. I am quite new here too, but have found this to be a really supportive and knowledgable place to be, so you have done the right thing by joining. I am sorry that you are going through this stressful time. Not having answers at your fingertips is very difficult. I really hope you can talk to your doctor soon and get a proper explanation. In the meantime, the ladies here are really helpful and know an awful lot! One thing I would say, is that if you are still having periods every month, you are not Post Menopausal! More than likely you are ovulating regularly still. The trouble we older women have is that egg quality decreases with age, and there's not a lot anyone can do about that. That does not mean you wont find the one golden egg before the fat lady sings, so to speak! It just means it's harder for us. Keep calm whilst you are trying to find your answers, and keep us posted.
