My cycle has been cancelled due to no follies, it was an antagonist cycle with 300 FSH, this was upped to 450 over the weekend. Had a final scan today just to double check nothing was happening before cancelling.
I showed the doc some printouts of webpages about mini-ivf - he said he can do this but they call it "minimal-boost" ivf at the clinic. He has recommended at least a month off, then look at doing a Clomid cycle. I have had follies with Clomid before so perhaps it can work again. On months off I will also be scanned and have blood tests done.
The doc said that sometimes high doses of meds can turn old ovaries off, but just tickling them with a little bit of Clomid can do the trick. Has anyone else heard of this?
The doc also suggested a naturopath, Jason Jackson at Greenslopes Naturopathic - it turns out this is very close to my home. So am going to make an appointment there as well.

Sorry to hear this. Yes, too much FSH meds can turn off your FSH receptors. Dr. Che.ck once mentioned this to me. That is why for high FSH women it is sometimes better to just use lower amount of meds. The other thing is that for women with high FSH sometimes it doesn't matter how much meds you give, only a few eggs will develop. Were you on any suppression prior to starting the meds? Sometimes this can slow down the cycle.

I do think you can do better with "coaxing" than with a sledgehammer. I got more viable embryos with 75IU of stims than I did with 350IU of stims.
Glad you're going to try Jas.on Jacks.on, he's the guy I mentioned when you first posted and I think it's been helpful for me. When you said you were an hour's drive from Shark.eys I guessed you might be closer to Greenslopes. You probably need to choose between Shark.eys and Jas.on Jack.son though because they both use similar approaches.....herbs in liquid form and supplements. I know when I've been at Green.slopes naturopa.thic clinic, they have cards of doctors and clinics that are prepared to think "outside the box" and try things (they have a lot of older women on their caseload) that might help. I'm so glad your doctor is suggesting more than just medical avenues!
Good luck moving forward.....I think a month to rebuild and a more "coaxing" approach might help, although that doesn't take the sting out of having your cycle cancelled. I'm so sorry it's happened to you...

Maybe you just had an off cycle rather than the meds being the problem. A softer stim may work better for you but I'd chalk it up to just a bad cycle too. Take care!

Also ask your RE about Femara protocol. Similar to Clomid, but does not thin the lining as much as Clomid in over 40's.
