FLYLADY: Testimonial: Old Habits!
Feb 23
Dear FlyLady,
Giving up for Lent: Saying, "I'm tired."
Many years ago, my husband pointed out that I often said "I'm tired," and he said it made him feel bad. Now I realize that in FlyLady language, it was a "whine."
I still said it, but I tried to say it less. Last week, DH had a stroke. He was lying on the hospital bed paralyzed and the words came to my mouth: "I'm tired" but they didn't come out of my mouth.
I WAS tired, but how could I say that when he was going through that experience? How could I say it in front of my children? I haven't said it at all. That habit has got cured in no time, and I don't think not saying it has made me feel any more tired! Maybe it's made me feel less tired. Maybe this is an old habit that won't take 28 days to get rid of.
Fluttering with nobody to whine to at home.
"You leave old habits behind by starting out with the thought, 'I release the need for this in my life'." Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
