have you ever attached beads to any of your projects? I am making these mini Christmas stockings for a fundraiser at church, and I was thinking of attaching a few beads around the cuff of the stocking top. There is one that I will be working on that will look similar to a victorian type of color and I thought little pearls would look pretty hanging around the cuff. Can anyone give me instuctions as to how to attach these beads? I would like them to kind of dangle around the top of the stocking.

crocheted with beads before. It's really hard to explain how to do it. You string the beads on your yarn before you start your project and then when you need a bead you crochet with it. I'm not sure if you can view youtube or not, but here is an example of somebody crocheting with beads. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMEWxFlaKbI Let me know if you can view this or not.

Because of dial up I can't view youtube, which I miss out on a lot of things with just having dialup. But I think if I just hang a few beads around the cuff of the stocking so that they dangle it would be kind of pretty. I would have to put a head pin in the bead and attach that to the yarn, do this on every other stick or maybe space it out just a tad more, then bend the head pin over the yarn and back on the head pin itself. That is the only way I know of that will cause them to dangle. Maybe I could string some nylon thread through and add beads as I go and that would look like they dangle a bit. On the stockings that I crochet, since they are so small, it wouldn't take much. So anyway I was wondering if you or anyone that does crochet has ever done this before. I may end up not doing it if I begin to mess up. But I thought on a couple I would try and make them look a little victorian. We shall see...thank you Daisy for looking that up on Youtube for me, I really appreciate that.

I don't crochet, but

if you want to do some beaded lace at the edges, can you do as Daisy suggested, string them on the yarn before you begin. Maybe use a clear type string or thread?

that may work, and I can experiment with that, and yes a clear nylon thread will work wonders for the beads. I would love for them to dangle down.
