My grape harvest!

Lots to share, keep scrolling down . . .

I had a huge amount of grapes this year:

Some of the best I kept for eating:

I had way too many and didn't want them to go to waste like in previous years, so we bought a dehydrator.  Had to destem all those grapes!

Grapes3.jpg

Five trays worth and that's just the first batch!  I got a whole second batch out of them.

They dry unevenly, but here they are halfway done:

Some of the finished raisins!  They are TASTY.  And I'm glad I don't have to waste all those grapes I grew!

Oh Mermayd that dehydrater is perfect for your grapes! I wish I could try some of those raisins! I'm extremely thirsty right now ( I was out shopping) and those grapes look SO refreshing!

It really is a cool

appliance. A friend of mine said she has a denydrator and uses it to dehydrate fruit all the time. She'll buy nectarines or something, and if they don't eat them quickly and they "might go bad" she cuts them up and throws them in the dehydrator! The food lasts indefinitely that way - the sugars in the fruit act as a preservative. What a great idea! I won't be afraid to buy more fruit now!

I'm glad to have a way to use my grapes! It was fun making the raisins and we got a huge gallon size ziploc bag full!

I wonder how ...

pineapple would taste! You are making me want one now ...lol! I can't get one though, I would have no where to put it in my little kitchen. It looks like a lot of fun. You could maybe make orange garlands with cinnamon sticks at Christmas time.

the grapes are just beautiful, oh and so tantalizing to, I just know they are nice and sweet, melt in you mouth kind of thing. I love the dehydrator, wow it really does the trick. I had a friend who even made jerky in hers and wow it was so nice and tender. Mermayd again, you done a wonderful job growing those grapes they are very beautiful and full. Thanks for sharing with us.
