Betty, I love all your make up

tips and suggestions.

I LOVE makeup! It's funny...I don't wear it often these days now that I'm not going to work every day but once every couple of years, in the "good ole days", I'd collect all the gift certificates I'd received over the year for my birthday, Christmas, etc. and I'd go to Nordstrom to the make up counter and have a SPLURGE!

I LOVE buying new make up. I don't buy much now since I don't use it that often there's little need but I do have a beautiful set of make up brushes I bought one time with several gift certificates I had accumulated. Many many years ago...in another time, in another world (I was married to a fairly wealthy man and lived in Malibu) far, far, far away, I could spend a small fortune on make up.

I don't like a lot of it but I like a few things that I really like. I try to stick to one or two lipsticks, a blush, a bronzer, simple eye shadows and liner. Actually my drawer is too full right now because I haven't cleaned it out this year so things have accumulated. I think it's because we've been so broke I'm afraid I won't have something again so I don't want to give it up. I'm actually much more of a "hoarder" now that we don't have money. I agree with you on the mascara though. Not good to hang onto that for very long. Or foundations.

I am using the mineral kind now and like it. My problem is I'm "old" and still have very oily skin so almost any foundation makes me break out. I've tried about everything imaginable from inexpensive to ridiculously expensive, powder to liquid; you name it I've tried it but it just doesn't seem to work well for me. Anything that covers well makes me break out. I worry about the powder getting into the fine lines now forming on my face. I also have trouble finding an eye liner that doesn't end up making me look like a raccoon by the end of the day!! happy.gif

Hi Terri I love makeup too

I am so glad you like reading my blog.
I am always out for a deal so finding makeup on a budget and for a steal is what I like and what I try to do.

I have oily/combo skin and honestly the only thing that has helped me with my complection is Clinique #3 tonner. I've tried everything over the years and I love this product. Honestly, it is the one face product I would not give up and I make sure to save for it. $20 for a large bottle will last me 5 months so it's worth it. When I buy this I like to hit a sale with free samples. Twice I've gotten two full size lipsticks and a nice size blush sample. If I am not interested in the other free samples I give them to my Mom and SIL to try.

Speaking of oily skin I do ok on mineral makeup. I have a Rimmel Mineral Pressed Powder in #104 I have been using instead of foundation and I like the coverage for Summer so far.

I understand about loving makeup and being on a budget. That's why you cannot beat Wet & Wild or N.Y.C. brands. You can get a blush, eyeliner, and lipstick all for under $6.
Yep, I toss mascara after 6-8 weeks and I do not feel bad about it. The brand I like is Almay. I use the thickening and the lengthening mascaras. If you look you can get either for under $6 which is cheap for mascara.
For good eyeliner I love Avon. If you hit a sale you can pick up one of the Waterproof Glimmersticks for around $3.00. This stuff goes on smooth and stays put. I have watery eyes also.

Goodness, I can talk makeup forever. I am glad you have enjoyed my blog and that makes me want to update more.
Thanks Terri.
