my grandfather imigrated from the Kaunas area around 1906 supposedly with two brothers. They were stowaways who were trying to avoid the Russian draft into the Sino-russian war.The Y in my last name is a mistake and should probably be a J. there were 12 siblings, 8 boys and 4 girls with the last name of Yakelis. 7 of 8 of the boys served in wwII. One of my grandfathers brothers spelled his last name Jakelis. They were from the Pittsburgh area
