Thank you for your knowledge and responding to my questions.
I have had very little success in my attempts looking through Latvian/Lithuanian genealogy sites, partially because of my extremely limited knowledge of the Latvian and Lithuanian languages and also because I have very little knowledge of our father's family history other than a box of some old photo's,letters (in Latvian)and a few documents (i.e. Student Card Latvijas Universitate Riga - ir Vetrinarmedicinas fakultates - 8/12/42, a paper post card in both German and Latvian addressed to him at Riga, Valnu 20-6, which I belive is commanding an appearance at Riga, Lacplesa iela 43/45 (Riga, Carl-Schirren Strasse 43/45) on 19/Mar/43 for registration purposes, UNRRA Identity and US Zone Headquarters Personnel papers (Dec.1945, 1946, 1947). I do know he was born in Riga in 1923, his father was Janis Vaitekaitis, his mother Emilija Resnis and Ilma his only sister was about 4 or 5 years younger.
I will read again your answers and also those of Marie to see if I can determine the locale or parish this family may have records in.
