"Umberesney" and "Lizdus"

by

Annie,

Umberesney might be Umbrasiene, the married woman's version of Umbras. Umbrasaite is the unmarried female form of the name. There are quite a few listings of this name in the online phone book for Lithuania (http://telefonai.zebra.lt/index.php?action=result&language=english).

There are no listings for anyone whose name begins "Ober-" or "Omber-" that come close to the spellings you have.

No "Lizdus" either, but there is "Lizdas" (Lizdiene for a married woman; Lizdaite for an unmarried woman.)

It's hard for me to imagine the pronunciation of these Lithuanian names with a Scottish accent...
