Residence of a Witkofsky

Hi,
I found my grandfather Julius Witkofsky's Declatation of Intent paper and naturlization paper and it says he came from Meritch, Russia.Emigrated from Antwerp, Belguim and does not have the name of the ship he came on. This is dated May 2nd 1901.
Any idea where this was or is?
