What did you expect? No one resigns early unless they have skeletons in the closet
Old geezers like Kennedy and Byrd keep farting their time away in US Senate, instead of retiring and letting someone young, healthy and capable do the business of the USA. No wonder we're in such poor shape, the morons can't even show up every day!
