they make up a majority of the population. On an apples to apples basis, the question is how many whites are on welfare relative to the number of total whites, how many blacks are on welfare relative to the entire black population, how many hispanics,etc.?
The only way to fix the deficit is to grow our way out of it. Increasing the tax rate won't do it, nor will cutting spending (though, IMO, the latter will help). To grow our way out, lower the corporate tax rate, push for more free trade agreements, appeal Obamacare, and, in general, reduce obstacles and regulations that get in the way of economic growth.
As to spending, the retirement age for SS and Medicare benefits needs to be raised. Means testing may be necessary as well. It's going to happen. Mind as well be now, before it is too late.
