we want stimulus 2 to pass. First will be the public union employees, er teachers and first responders. I assume that money would be allocated to hire now. Not that teachers are usually hired in the middle of the school year. But we will not collect the tax to pay for this until - you guessed it, after the elections - after 2012. Just how do we spend money now, that we do not collect until 2013? How is that 'pay as you go?'
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has re-introduced a portion of the American Jobs Act that would be fully paid for by imposing a 0.5 percent surtax on taxpayers earning over $1 million a year. The bill would focus on putting teachers and first responders back to work and would cost around $35 billion. If passed, the surtax would be effective after 2012. The bill is the first of four separate bills that Democrats in the Senate plan to unveil that originate from the original American Jobs Act bill that the President introduced in September.
