The regulators either missed the Libor scam or knew about it and did nothing. The scandal occurred in 2007 and 2008. Fighting over regulation of the financial markets had nothing, I repeat, nothing to do with it.
The regulators also missed Madoff. They missed Stanford. They missed Peregrine. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the financial crisis? Missed that too. Hell, many in Congress from both sides of the aisle (though more from the left) provided cover for Fannie and Freddie.
Just what makes you think government regulators will get the next one?
