| We waste trillions of dollars in other countries and in wasteful spending, why not use that money to help our own people?
In full disclosure I am a Democrat and I'm not attacking anybody, I don't believe in free rides as I know many people abuse the system, I believe if you are healthy and physically capable you can earn a living, even if it's just working at Walmart or waiting tables, I don't think anyone should get free rides in life. That being said there are honest people that work hard and are barely able to live week to week, if they are making an honest effort would it be wrong for them to get some assistance be it healthcare, education or some other method of support.
I came from a single parent household where my mother worked 80 hours a week to take care of my sister and I, my dad left and shacked up with another woman did not pay an once of support for the duration of our childhood, this was years ago when they didn't garnish wages or throw people in jail. My mom took my dad to court over 10 times and just got to the point where she gave up because she kept missing too much time from work. We lived on a shoe string budget and many times had to decide are we going to eat this week or have water/electric, I started bagging groceries at 14 to try to help but made barely made a dent budget wise.
So what about people in those situations that genuinely need help and cannot afford health insurance? The annual check ups and preventative care would cost less if people had insurance instead of waiting until there was a major health issue and looking at a 5 or 6 figure medical bill.
Why are Republicans so against healthcare assistance? Again not attacking but asking a valid question. No one wants to pay for it but who else can really pay for it? The government is the only entity able to do so. Doesn't religion teach us to help those in need? Now we live in a society of "I got mine" or "it's not coming out my pocket".
So again I ask, for the people that really need help (not freeloaders) should there not be some way to help those that need it? |
