well, no. Your cheap competitors will pay the fine, keep the number of employees below the threshold (i.e. operate as 2 companies), and still not provide health care.
Not much of a reason to support the bill. This is the same protectionist ideas that put the 'Big 3' on the ropes. Hope government will put my competitors at more of a disadvantage than me.
You realize that you (I hope, since you are a medium sized company) will incur more personal taxes as a result. The premiums you pay for your employees will go up (estimates are 10-20%) as a result of the requirements to cover pre-existing conditions.
And if one of your employees gets really sick and can't work, then loses their insurance, and then files for bankruptcy (one of the arguments by the left on this), this bill does nothing to help them. Except possibly fine them for not having insurance until they get a voucher to pay for said insurance. They still have no income, therefore still file for bankruptcy - nothing really changes for one of the biggest arguments for this plan.
