It is 31st October 2006. What price fame? Any X Factor contestant will tell you that for 15 minutes of it, they will go to the slaughter in that gladiatorial public hanging for just that.
Well, after 50 years of constant fame, the beloved icon DANNY LA RUE´S belongings from his pied a terre in Manette Street, Soho, (now presumably sold) are strewn in the street; furniture, papers etc.
Tim, on discovering this, is at a loss what to do and phones me here in Spain for some advice. I am shocked at this lack of respect and care. I don´t understand how his manager and friend would allegedly allow it. The word "fairweather" springs to mind.
It is well known that Danny´s eyesight is rather bad and is probably NOT aware of this treatment of his possessions. I certainly hope so. As I said, "What price fame?" |
