Open selection trials
6th November, 2009
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah FA will be holding an open selection trials to select players for its M-League squad next season. The selection trials will be held over three days from Nov 13 to 15 at the Likas Stadium.
Alijus Hj Sipil said all are welcome to attend the trials to be conducted by the FAs selectors.
We will name several coaches to be in our selection panel. They will oversee the trials and will make the necessary recommendations to the FA before anything is finalised, said Alijus.
The FA Secretary General added it is not only open to players from around the State, but also from the Peninsula or even Sarawak.
It is an open trials and anyone can attend and prove their worth, the FA Secretary General added.
We have been receiving numerous calls from players from the Peninsula indicating that they are interested to play for Sabah.
I have told them our door is always open to anyone, and that any decision will lie on the team management, but of course with the recommendation from the selection panel as well as the team coach, Alijus said.
He also revealed that there are at least four ex-Rhinos who are willing to make a comeback.
This foursome has agreed to play for Sabah next season. But at the moment, I cannot give any names until the appropriate time, said Alijus.
Among the ex-Rhinos plying their trade elsewhere this season are Juraindey Jumai (Perlis), Madzalan Emoi, Sumardi Hajalan (Johor FC), and Sanjos Sundawat (Selangor).
Meanwhile, Alijus said that former coach Justin Ganai has been given the task to take charge of the team until they name their coach for the new season.
He said that the current squad is expected to resume training anytime from now.
