Rally For Jim

'Rally For Jim' is the place to be if you want to help us stand our ground for him! We are going to form a letter to send to the Academy and members of the board! Just leave your name, where you are from, a message of what you would like to say to the Academy, and type out your e-mail address in the text (if you want me to be able to respond to you). If you have anything else you want to talk about besides this rally, go to the other message board located on page 1. Show your true Jim-loyalty and join us!!! Thank you all once again!

We're getting there!

Well, so far we have about 10 people signed up for this. It is 12:00 noon here in St. Louis. So in less than 24 hours we have gathered this many. So as of right now, this is as many people as we have. This # will change as the day goes on I'm sure. But if we give this more time, we could have tons of people. Just pass the word! Thanks to all that have joined! Love, Marissa

Blinded eyes of justice

by

Jim Carrey is one of the funniest men on the silver screen. By depriving him you also deprive the people who go to the movies to see comedy. Jim Carrey is Comedy! Open your eyes to the hillarity!

My thoughts

by

I was heartbroken when the nominations were announced and Carrey, once again, was not among them. I know that competition can be fierce, and I can forgive the Academy for not nominating him for "The Truman Show". But their decision/vote this year perplexes me. I can't help but think that had this been any other major actor playing Andy Kaufman, just as well (or not?) as Carrey did, a nomination would have been given.

This is salt rubbed in the wounds of "Man on the Moon"'s box-office performance, of Carrey himself, but most importantly, of all those who admire him and hoped against hope that he would receive a nomination at least and at last.

We can't change the Academy's decision...but we can demand that his performance at least be given some acknowledgement during the Oscar telecast itself, whether or not he serves as a presenter again. Surely, someone in the Academy has the heart to realize the frustrations of all of us, and to make a point of mentioning how wonderful he was...

what exactly does the academy stand for anyway

by

i may be wrong about this, but let me try it anyway.

my understanding is that the academy nominates many people from many different fields, one of which is best actor. nominations, i thought, were based on the actual performances, not who the person is, or what they have starred in previously.

i was recently(twice as a matter of fact) proven wrong. jim carrey, a man of unequal talent, stunned the world with back-to-back oscar caliber performances. now, would it be any actor besides carrey, they wouldve received a nomination without a doubt. but because he is jim carrey, he will not. is it just me or does that sound hypocritical. that because a man was ace ventura, stanley ipkiss, lloyd christmas, chip douglass, the riddler, or fletcher reede(and because he talked from his rear-end at the oscars), he will never get nominated.

but wait, you dont hold every actors past agaisnt them. tom hanks was in "the burbs," as well as "joe vs. the volcano." but he has recieved what 4 noms and 2 statues?

i really think that the academy should re-evaluate their feelings. are all the life long members squeeky clean? have they never done anything that wasnt oscar worthy?

jim is a human. so is everyone at the academy, i hope. to qoute a movie, "may all your mistakes be rubbed in you noses."

WHY WHY WHY!

by

What I would like to ask the academy is ...why do you keep snubbing this fantastic man! He is talented like no one else and deserves an award, not because of who he is, but because he is an amazing actor and person and he has achieved more than your average Hollywood muscle head. And why is he not hosting this year like you said he would!
Please give him his deserved recognition!
Thanks!

The Academy versus Jim Carrey

by

I've heard that Jim Carrey will never received an OSCAR because he had once said some bad words about the academy. I don't know if that is true but I think everyone makes mistakes (Jim Carrey too) but why can't they forgive him his mistakes?

Jim really deserves this.

by

In the past, you have awarded academy's to the most prestigious of actors in the field. And yet there is one that you considerably keep overlooking. James Carrey (known as Jim Carrey) has the talents of 100 best academy award winners! And he's proven this fact numerous times. To constantly overlook his attributes should be labeled a criminal offense.
He has proven to the whole nation that his acting talents are boundless. And with constant surprising roles that show all sides of his spirit, to not nominate him for the academy awards is like shooting down an angel from heaven.
I ask you, to please give credit where credit is due, and nominate (and award) Jim Carrey.

Rally for Jim

by

To all of the academy members and the administration of the academy:

We, Jim Carrey's fan base; otherwise known as Carreyhlics, are disappointed and disgusted by the lack of respect shown to Jim Carrey by the academy.
Mr. Carrey has worked very hard to gain the respect of those in the motion picutre industry, and yet, twice, dispite the outrage of fans and movie critics alike, the academy has denied him the Oscar nomination that he so richly deserved.
I would hope that in the future the academy will consider the genre of comedy and comic actors clearly acting well in dramatic roles, more seriously.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
