Another lesson learned, the Philippine Navy has a new job.

The deployment of Filipino citizens to work worldwide puts another burden on the Philippine government whose responsibility is the safety and well-being of these ofws. Since they have been opening embassies and foreign services all over the place just for the purpose of overseas employment, the Lebanon scenario points to the need for an agreement with the host countries to allow for rescue operations by Philippine authorities of citizens endangered by war or other harmful events.
The Lebanon scenario has been predicted before but as usual the Philippine government has done absolutely nothing, preferring instead to wait for a crisis to both cost lives and valuable resources.
At any rate it's high time that the overseas workers demand that their government come up with a comprehensive search and rescue program which will become an integral part of the Philippine military organization, the primary purpose of which is to provide the necessary service and assistance for the search and rescue of overseas workers in endangered areas worldwide.
