That's the reason for the brainstorming before doing anything. The impact of this simple idea should be carefully discussed, thought out, and resolved before any step is taken. The primary concern is the collapse of the dome which is probably part of the natural process in every volcano anyway. I'm not an expert in this area but there must be a good reason to prevent that dome collapse.
