Paul Wakfer announced on MoreLife, his Yahoo forum, that he'll no longer dispence advice for free. I guess some people want to be paid for everything they do. In my own case, I choose to be paid for my piano expertise. Then from my surplus time and energy developed from that, I talk freely on the internet-- for free. What is Paul Wakfer's main source of income? Is he running so tight that he can no longer afford to run a discussion forum for free?
...but it was voluntary. They believe in "value for value received." It's part of their vision of sovereign individuals in a society run on a kind of honor system. There are literally hundreds of pages about it on their website. Their forum was for more than simple discussion, though, they did tons of research on supplements, drugs, and diseases for their members. Everything they say is backed up by citations from reputable sources.
They ought to have a free teaser board and then ask for payment to go further.

Instead of asking for payment, they ought to have a freebie board where they don't give too much away but tease readers with what they could research more deeply. Then, tie the payment in with the amount of depth of work involved. That's what I do with piano lessons. I give away the first few and once we have a direction, I plug in a figure that corresponds to the amount of work I'll have to do to prepare for that student. They came across as real hard ass and I didn't like that. If they're into entrpenuerial efforts as they seem to be, they ought to smile and sell.
