Gentelmen:
The best records I can find seem to indicate when Lt. Col. Carlon formed the 1st Marine Raider Battalion they were armed with Johnson Simi-automatic rifles with a matching light machine gun all in thye .306 caliber. I can very little about johnson and his rifle that I understand was in competition with the Garand to become the standard US Infantry rifle in the late 1930's.
Are there any easy to find publication available to those whom are interested.
