Subject:
My uncle - ex raider killed on Guam.
Date:

Dear sir;
I am currently searching for any information concerning my
uncle
who was, according to my other Uncle, one of Carlson's Raiders.
I am 38
and never knew my Uncle but more importantly, I am looking for
information for my Dad who never knew his oldest brother. My
Uncle:
Louis James Carey, enlisted in Cleveland, OH and left the U.S.
in Dec.
17, 1942. According to his discharge papers, he participated in
action
at New Georgia from July 4, 1943 to August 29, 1943. Emirau
from March
20, 1944 to april 4, 1944. His final stop was at Guam where he
was
Killed in Action on July 25, 1944. My research has not produced
a whole
lot yet other than I think he was taken from the Marine third
division
and became a raider from there. I believe there were about 4
raider
regiments or battalions under differnt leaders. Carlson had the
2nd
raiders and by backtracking my uncles records, I believe he may
have
been part of the 3rd or 4th raider battalion under Liversedge.
I may be
totally wrong but it the best I have so far. How can I obtain
information or find someone who may have served with my Uncle or
knew
him during the war? Thank you for your time and help and above
all....thank you for your service to our great country and
preserving
our freedom. You men of our wars should never be forgotton. My
address
is: tcarey61@excite.com. Again, Thank you very much for your
help.

I don't think you realize that all three of your responses came to me and not to the person you intended...(Thomas)
