My father was William J.Barnatt.He resigned from the Marines in 1953/54 as a Lt. Col.Taught amphibious warfare at Ft.Belvoir, Va.(where I was born,53)Served in the S.Pacific after officers school,I believe in Carlsons Raiders.I need to get details from my Mom but I think he was in the Marshall Is. Bouganville,Ponepey (spelling ? )and more.He passed away in 1975 of cancer and although he told us 7 kids many stories, they were all comical ones and never talked about " the war".Now that he's gone I'm wishing I talked more about it with him.My Mom remembers a lot as far as dates when he shipped out etc.and names of islands.I have one of his trunks stenciled Capt. W.J. Barnatt.Another sibling has one that say's Maj. I also have his USMC knife. My Mom still has his dog tag.If anyone remembers him I would love to talk with you. It's a part of my fathers life that none of us know much about, and I would love to hear the other side of the story so to speak. Thank you.

My Dad's name is Daniel Christian Hanson. He was a member of Carlson's Raiders. He was from Staples, MN. He died in 1977. I,too, wish I knew more about this part of his life. If anyone knew him, I would be so grateful to know more. He was wounded twice (Bouganville and Iwo Jima) - two purple hearts. Thanks, Olivia Pleggenkuhle
