Does the name CHARLES WHITCRAFT ring a bell with anybody??? He is my grandfather, a former marine that passed on when I was a mere 6 months old back in '78. All I know about him is that he was a marine back in ww2, and he fought in the south pacific. I do not know what he did or where he fought specifically. He had red hair, I think, and I believe his middle initial was "o" or "e". If anybody can perhaps point me in a direction as to where I can find records of former marines that fought in the south pacific, please let me know.

To be honest it doesnt seem like you have much to go on. I was in the same direction. Your best starting position is to write to National Personal Records in St. Louis. They will forward you his service records, and give you something to go on. My grandfather died when I was 4 however, this is where I began when I was 6. It will take you in alot of places. It has for me. I am 19 now. I believe you can go to the website of NPR, and download its form. This will answer your questions. Good luck to you.

I forgot to mention this in my previous message. No your grandfather is not in my roster. My roster is absolutely complete, and he is not included. Goodluck to ya
