My father Glenn Mohler was with the 2nd Marine Raiders during the last days of Guadalcanal and then Bougainville where he was WIA.

I have several photos of Col. Carlson and other Raiders which all may enjoy. I have unsuccessfully attempted to attach these JPEG files. Please advise how to send these to the site.

My apologies for the long delay in responding, but did you ever get the pictures that I tried to send to you? I forget? Do you still want them?

My father, Nelson Wilcox, was in the Navy and attached to the 2nd Bn, 3rd Div. of the Carlson Raiders. I have a picture as well, but I don't know how to send it either.

Grandfather was a 2nd Marine Raider

My grandfather was one of the 2nd Mrine Raiders at Guadalcanal. He won't talk about the war so the only information I get is from a relative who was also a Marine at the time. I would love to see the pictures you have. I do know that my grandfather was one of the guys asked to put on hula skirts and dance on camera. The excerpt was included in the original movie "Guadalcanal Diary." The movie, however, was remade because they had the actors dressed in their dress blues rather than the proper fighting uniforms. I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of the original, unfortunately.

My brother, William J. Russell was an original member of Carlson's 2nd Raiders. If you have a copy of the book, Our Kind Of War, his picture is on page 244. Bill made it through all the original campaigns, then was transferred to the 5th Marines and was killed on Iwo Jima where he operated a flame thrower.. Does anyone remember Bill? I have many pictures and mementos which he secreted out of the war. I was alittle guy at the time but I remember our Dad saying that Bill wrapped film around the batteries in his flashlite. Bill was my hero and even at my 72 years, I have never forgotten what a neat guy he was.

Hi
I read your posting about the photos your father has of some of the raiders. My dad, Lynn Nichols (Sam)was one of the raiders and I wonder if he may be in any of the pictures. He was from rockland wisconsin.
Thanks
