Looking for information about my father J. Keith Annis

I am looking for information about my father, J. (john) Keith Annis or any information about his friends. He was in the battles of the pacific, Russell Island, Solomon Island group, and Iwo Jima (February 22 to April 11 1945.) His serial number is 307589. He was recommended for a Good Conduct Medal. He died in 1960 when I was two years old. The only information I know about my father is that all his military records sank with a ship in the pacific.
