....and enjoyed it immensely. It is very disciplined and will make you a better shooter if you work it that way.

The Izzy 46 is a great starter gun for the money! I am surprised it sells for so little compared to what the FWB, Walther, Steyr and others sell for. If you can find one used, that hasn't been screwed with, you will already be ahead of the game.

When I started shooting 10M, it was with a Daisy 777, and I shot my first 570 / 600 with that gun. It can be done with something so inexpensive. 10M air pistol is a 60 shot slow fire match with a time duration of 2 hours. It mentally tires you out. IF you say that you are shooting mostly 8's and 9's with what you are using, that is not too bad. Imagine those scores with a better gun. If you shoot 60 9's that is a 540. Throw in a few more 10's and score at least a 550 and you would qualify to shoot in the US International championships where you could earn a berth on the US team (which was my goal) and eventually the Olympics (my ultimate goal followed by winning the gold).

Any local gun club with an active competition program should have regular matches that shoot air pistol. Look into it and give it a try.

If you want to become serious about it, I could give you some pointers that may help get you started on the right track regarding technique, etc. In addition to competing, I was also an NRA pistol instructor (amongst other certifications), and also a Class C certified pistol coach, also through the NRA. Unfortunately, marital, job, and health situations at the time caused me to have to remove myself from the activity.

Give me a holler if you would like some assistance.

Best regards,
Mark Kauffman
