Bad day with the BAM B-26

Started out great! Dime sized group from 30 yards, and I was going to walk away. I needed to push that back another 10 yards to see if it would hold up. Well, the CPLs walked all over the place and I moved the target forward to the 30 yard mark again for another look. The CPLs walked across the paper. I hate it when that happens!

Looking at the scope, I could see that the Accushot rings had let the tube slide. On such a hot day, that cushioned black tape inside the mounts melted the adhesive into maple syrup. There was about 1/4 inch of creep noticeable by the receding glue ring. Within 10 minutes I had the rings broken down, scope removed and proceeded to de-gunk the adhesive and remove the tape. Another 5 minutes to reassemble and torque the screws. I was ready.

Not having my reading glasses handy, I dipped my fingers into a tin of RWS SuperDomes. The group was way off, but tight! I was amazed, thinking it was JSB pellets I was shooting. They never grouped like this before from the B26. Once I realized that it was SuperDomes, I was even more elated! I set the zero to 30 yards, and away I went with a fresh target to proudly post and boast. Again, the pellet POI walked across the page.

Was it the pellet? Did I use the right one? IS the scope creeping? Is the reticle broken?
UG!

Temporary solution! I'll shoot the R7 to re-inspire a desire to make the thing work. It's like a dose of good medicine.

That is why I have almost sold mine three times.

The B26 seems to have it's time of the month when nothing will be correct, now-matter how hard you try, your better off leaving it alone for a week before trying again, LOL.

Cheers, David.
