This one was in my yard. Shot him with my R9 with a FTS. Shot from the FT posistion at ~15 yards. He got knocked over, started kicking for about 10 sec., jumped up in the air about a foot and never moved again!

How much louder is the R9 than the 953? Any idea where the pellet ended up? The extra power would be nice to have if I could work it or something similar into the surroundings somehow.

Not sure what all the kicking is. Every squirrel or rat that I have shot in the head has had some kick left. Maybe just spasms?

I shoot from under my walk in crawl space so every thing echos and is much louder (to me). But this shot was taken out in the open and it was just a bit louder than the 953,but not by much.

The pellet probaly just hit a tree or the ground. I made sure I was angled away from the house thats ~35 yards behind/beside my house. I doubt a 177 cal pellet is going to go 250+ yards through thick woods.

I mean, can you get any more "deader" than a chicken with its head cut off clean? Still, the bird will run around because it is the last to know!

Point is, don't feel badly about the involuntary reactions once you've landed your best shot!
