I met my girlfriend at work. I saw her in the hallways a few times and thought she was cute, but she was the one who struck up a conversation with me, and we just hit it off.
One piece of advice if you do end up on a date is to ask her questions about her. This reduces the chance of babbling, which I seem to have a problem with. In fact, I'm doing it now!
