OK, I've been offered a R11 Turbo. I'm quite familiar with the rest of the technique, but how do I check that the turbo's OK?!

Also, are there other Turbo specific problems I should look for?

Thanks!

Ok, you should know the procedure for driving turbo-animated cars. At first, never-EVER make huge accelerations when the engine is still cold, save it for later, when you can floor it and feel it kicking. If the turbo's alright, when you floor it, the car rises through the revs quite normally, until 2500/3000 rpm, where the turbo goes on scene, depending on the charge of the accelerator. If it is floored, you will feel a sudden shot, that is the turbo, and afterwards, the engine goes up and up through the revs, and it never seems to want to stop. To all of this will be surelly added a small whistle sound, which is the voice of the turbo. Also, check the "turbo" gauge on the panel, that one measures the turbo's pressure. Usually it never reaches the red spot, it reaches maximum pressure about two units before red. Finally, when you are stopping the car after a long journey, especially if it was made mostly over 100km/h, wait one or two minutes with the engine turned on, after you have stopped the car, with the gearbox in neutral. This final procedure is highly recommendable because the turbo will still be rotating very fast, and when you turn off the engine, you'll cut the oil feeding for it, and it will grip out soon. After this, drive carefully, and take care of your beauty, it is precious.

Well, it turned out the car was quite OK mechanically (apart from the gearbox having already been repaired once), but it was the tired body that put me off. Both sills and the other rear wing arch had been replaced, and the other arch needs replacing.

As I'm looking for a daily transport, buying a 'promising' project maybe isn't what I'm looking for. Entirely as a hobby car it would be great (except that the asking price is a bit steep) but unfortunately I have neither money, space or time for it.

God, I'm depressed! The 9 is falling apart quickly and I can't afford a Mégane 16V yet. Damned! Will I just have to start using public transportation?! (no way in h*ll!) LOL!
