I just bought a renault r9 from 1984.
First I was prety sceptic about the car but after reading this forum I totaly changed and can't wait to get my car in 5 days.
The only thing I know is that it is a GTL and its a 1.4
but could somebody tell me how many hp it has, and how is the acceleration with a car like this, can I compare it to a golf 2 ore is that to fast.

I own a 1987 9 GTL 1.4 and found that I have been able to keep up with Ford Fiesta XR2 and Escort XR3.
I have found it very reliable and economical and also if driven right quite a surprising car.

I am a former R-9 GTL 1985 user. It has a 68 ps/din of
power. It uses ordinary (91 octane) gasoline. It can
make 100 km speed with 3000 rev/min (models after 90 does with 3500 rev/min). It can make 750 km on the open road (not in the city) and it is better than its Golf
rival of the same year (for my opinion - but today Golf is five fold better than Clio, I think). If you have 155/13 tyres on your car, be careful on the thigt turnings and on the panic braking on the wet. Jeremy with accents... Are you From France or Belgium / Switzerland? I drove 850 km of road, with 85 R-9 GTL, from 5 am, to 7 pm, on the ordinary road (not highway /autoroute/autobahn, including 150 km under the heavy rain.
