In my country Renault is the most popular car because of the cooperation with Renault CO. I have a Dacia which is in fact Renault 12 Model produced in Romania. I changed the engine of Dacia with an engine from Renault but I have some problems with the cooling system. I have changed the wather pump, the radiator, the cylinder-head and the set but the engine is stil overheating. I am writting you , hoping that you have the sollution or may be you could provide me with technical manuals.

Thermostat Valve or Blower Fan

Itīs neccecary to check under which conditions the engine gets hot. If itīs getting hot in slow town traffic only, when not enough air is coming to the radiator, maybe thereīs a fault on the radiator blower fan. As far as I can remember, this fan was driven by a belt, but Iīm not quite shure if thereīs a thermostatic coupling attached to it. When the engine is warm, this blower fan should run fast. If itīs not, check the coupling and the driving belt.
If the engine gets hot when riding at accelerated speed as well, check if the the thermostatic valve gets fully open. It is located on the top side of the engine, attatched inside the hose that leads to the radiator (or maybe in an additional housing, I donīt know for sure). When you disassemble the hose, chek the valve by putting it into boiling water - it should be fully open after a few moments.

Good luck,
Andy

I removed the Thermostat valve and the engine cooling system is now running on direct flow. That should help the engine in getting cooler but is not working. I have an electric blower fan which is powered on direct also. It starts together with the engine and is running with no stops. I think that the problem may be at the engine block but I don’t know exactly where to start. It may be the flow of water through the engine block?

Thank you for answering

Stefan

blocked engine?

I donīt think the coolant flow is blocked inside the engine (at least, Iīve never heard something like this). I donīt even know what to do if the coolant flow is blocked inside the engine I think the only way to check if the coolantīs constantly flowing through the engine is to drain and flush the system, from upside to down, that means, to connect a water hose with one of the main coolant tubes on the upside (eventually the one which is connected to the thermostatic valve). If you open it, and the water doesnīt leave the engine block at the bottom with more or less the same pressure, you can assume that there is a fault inside the block. Otherwise better check all other parts of the coolant system for blocks or rips (coolant loss).
Another thing to check is if the carb and ignition are set for correct settings? Wrong timing or bad mixture can also lead to engine overheat.
Finally, you wrote that you changed the engine from Dacia to Renault. Maybe the radiator is to small now? A, letīs say, 1.7l 95hp engine needs a bigger one than the original Dacia 1.3 54hp....

Good luck
Andy
