Hi there, This might sound weird, but I am having doubts which engine I have, I said it was a C2j cause it's a 89 renault, but i remember that this car is 72 HP and on the tech page, the C2j didnt come in 72HP?? is my mmory bad or is the engine a non-turbocharged C1j?? Is there a place to look for on the engine? Thanks.

The exact model number of your engine is at the engine number plate, which is right at the front of the block. C2J doesn't mean the engine has no turbo, and c1J doesn't mean the engine has.
- c is the name of engine family - Cleon - pushrod engines
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 these are numbers describing the engine in more detail:
- 1 single draught carburettor
- 2 dual draugth carb
- 3 electronic FI
- 4 electronic FI, 16v? ie - the newest K4M
- 5 single carb, cross-flow head
- 6 dual carb, cross-flow head
- 7 EFI, cross-flow head
- J is the displacement code. - means it's a 1,4 litre
power can be read from suffixes - if your engine is a C2J 730 - then it surely has 60 hp
C2J 768 - should have 68 hp
dunno the code for 72, but I doubt if a C engine in "cheverny" actually had 72hp .. All I heard was a C3J 55 HP...
