Hello everybody,

Last Sunday, I was driving my R11 at 80 kmph (50 mph) when I heard a strong bang coming from the front right wheel.

The reason was a hole in the road in which I drove the car. I think the damper reached its upper bound.

Today, when I come back from work, I realised that I must keep the steering wheel a bit to the left if I want to maintain a straight trajectory.

Is it possible that some suspension component was bended or damaged in some way? I have no found leaks in the damper. Must the car be servided inmediatelly?

Thanks a lot and best regards.

Sergio

Hi!

Firstly, yes it is possible that a bump against somenthing on the road caused your car to go "out of line"... Especially at that speed!
I know for shure that roads like the ones I drive on (Bosnia and Herzegovina), which are in rather poor condition (especially after winter with a lot of snow), make me go to the mechanics to align my front suspension every 6 moths on my little R5.
There's probably no fear of somthing being bent or broken, its just that your balljoints for example just went out of alignment, and you need to do the procedure...
Hope it helped,
Goran

Hi Sergio,
Since I bought my car 10 months ago,it always go on his left side and the driving wheel was never in straight position.Since I change both ball-joints/which was in terrible condotoin/the car is O.K. without any adjustements. You must check them cause it may have a crack or change their shape from strong hit.It is for your sure. The brand new ones cost appr.15 DM here.If there is something wrong and you still drive it may be /I am not sure for this word/your front wheel bar to pull out,and the car will stops to drive.I mean the bar which connect with engine and rotate the wheel.Sorry but I dont know the specific technikal term. You can also check the metal rubber rings placed in the boot on the up side of telescopic suspension. They connect the telescops wit car,s corpus. If you need some help about change of ball-joints let me know I will.
Regards.Tisho.
