I own a 93' R9 (L42 T)with an C2L-720 Engine (1565cm3 77x84mm comp.:9/1) which was developed by Renault Argentina from the 1.4 engine. And has a weber 32 drt 30/100 carb. This engine has 80hp (max. speed is 180km/h) and used in Turkey in R9s under name Fairway, in R11s under name Rainbow and in R21s under name Optima.
After a long search in internet about tuning R9 I was not able to find any info. As these cars are very populer in Turkey, I searched from the turkish web sites. And reached to the following information:

This company also produces Cams for R9-11s. I called them and asked for the cam for R9 1.6L. They have 5 different cams for 1.6 engine. The most suitable for normal street use was x8 and costs 400 Euro. The guy on the phone said that the cam does not need any modification for the valves and gives extra 20hp
which means a R9 1.6 with 100ps... One of R9s they have modified was tested in the turkish car magazine "Oto Moto" (this test can be also seen on the web-site of this company). The pakage contains the cam and instruction manual. The only need afterwards is the carb. calibration. The rpm range will be 800-7000.
For the 1.4 & 1.7 F engine they have also cams... the test result for 1.7 Engine was 118hp @ 6800 rpm...

On the top click the "tum fiyat listesi" link. You will download an exe file and this exe will extract a directory named martas_fiyat to your computer. There are 2 files in the directory. 1 html and 1 excel file. Over the HTML file you can browse parts in supplier groups. If you click on of these suppliers, the browser will call from the excel list related page. There are 1000s of brand new parts for renault 9&11s and other cars. (The list is in turkish & prices are in Turkish lira. 1 USD = 1.320.000 TL ) Almost 50% of the list is for R12 R11 R9.. (The Excel file consists of 10173 lines)
