R 11 from 1988; braking problemsApril 14 2004 at 11:11 AM No score for this post | Anonymous from IP address 80.58.42.107 |
| Hello!!!
I own a dark gray (I think that "Tungsten" was the commercial colour name)Renault 11 TSE from 1988, inherited from my father. It has 106000 km and it goes very well, except the typical things: difficult to turn on with cool weather or if it has been some days without turning on, the roof tapestry unsticken... I changed the carb with 90000 km and the refrigerant liquid pump and the alternator (i dont'n know how it is called in english, the electrical motor that feeds the battery)some months ago. Fortunately i haven't visited the garage since then (€€€€€€...).
I woud like to read comments about something that usually happens to R11. When you press the braking pedal and stop the car there is a progressive loss of pressure so you have to keep pressing the pedal more and more deeply or free it and press it again. Anybody knows why this happens? I'm sure that there is no leakege of breaking liquid.
Thanks!! |

check the break pump for leakage. if not, then get all the air out from the braking circuit |

Check the rear wheel cylinders to see if they are faulty. I had a similar problem but could find no loss of fluid. A rear wheel cylinder was faulty and caused only a small amount of fluid loss, but not enough to make much difference to the level in the break fluid resevoir. After wheel cylinder lost a little fluid it would just suck a air into the system and give spongy breaks and a need to pump the pedal. Just a thought :D | |
