Hi there,
I just got my hands on a nice, old Renault 9 (L42) GTL bb from 1982 (the one with 44 kW/60 hp) - runs smooth, really nice. However, the fuel is running low and I just realized that I've got no clue which kind of fuel the car will need, as there was no manual included. So, I have to questions to all you Renault 9-experts out there:
* Which kind of fuel do I want to fill into my new love? ("normal" (91 ROZ) , "premium" (95 ROZ), "premium extra" (98 ROZ) as a choice ....)

* Does anybody know where I could get a manual for the car? For example, I wondered how to get the wheel hub-caps off (the plastic ones around the tyres' screws)?? I managed to take of the black Renault sign, but the grey plastic fixed with a X of metal just won't go off .... An electronic manual would be just as good as a hint where to get one ...

Thank you all in advance and best regards from Vienna/Austria,
Wolfgang

In my opinion, you shoud use Super Premium 98... I´m form Portugal, and that's the one I use... with any other one, in the winter, my car doesn't move a milimeter, it does not start! But with 98, from the best quality possible, your R9 should run great!

If your motor is in any way decent shape, normal 95 is just fine. And if it is not in good shape, then repair it!

"Do you buy a high octane gasoline for your car because you want to improve its performance? If so, you should note: the recommended gasoline for most cars is regular octane. In fact, in most cases, using a higher octane gasoline than your owner’s manual recommends offers absolutely no benefit. It won’t make your car perform better, go faster, get better mileage or run cleaner. Your best bet: listen to your owner’s manual.

The only time you might need to switch to a higher octane level is if your car engine knocks when you use the recommended fuel. This happens to a small percentage of cars. If it was designed for regular gas, but knocks, often that means you need a tune up."
